On Dec 24, 2025, a fire broke out on board the 'Mare Frisium' in Hamburg. Thick, black smoke billowed from the wheelhouse of the vessel, docked at the Sandtor Quay in Hafen City, The Hamburg Fire Department was alerted shortly after midnight and extinguished the flames from the shore. The mobilised fireboats were not needed. No one was injured, and the extent of the damage was initially unclear. According to the fire department, no one was on board the ship, which is primarily used as an event venue, at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but a technical defect, such as a cable fire, was suspected. Seven passengers of the "Mare Frisium" were injured when a speedboat launched from the charter sailing vessel on the Elbe in the evening of May 21, 2014, crashed into the wake of a container ship. Seven passengers suffered injuries to the cervical and dorsal spine. The driver of the speed boat had misjudged the waves. The injured were taken back to the sailing which returned to the Willkommhöft in Wedel, where a large contingent of rescue Forces and the water police attende. The injured were brought from the ship to nearby hospitals. Three of the seven injured were able to stay on board. The water police investigated because of a suspected negligence of the boat driver.
