Fire off Wijk

In the midday hours of July 1 a fire broke out aboard the "Marion" 10 kilometers off Wijk aan Zee. The fire which was caused by a gas bottle on the foreship led to the development of dense fume, but could be brought under control in the afternoon. 41 leisure fishers were on board. Lifeboats from IJmuiden, Zandvoort and Wijk aan Zee took members of the fire brigades to the scene. Also a tug and a helicopter attended.
