Allision in Dublin

Mar 02, 2026 11:15

**Title: L.Γ‰. Samuel Beckett Involved in Quayside Allision in Dublin** On the morning of February 26, 2026, the Irish Naval Service patrol vessel 'L.Γ‰. Samuel Beckett' experienced a minor allision with the quayside of the River Liffey in Dublin. The incident unfolded as the vessel was executing a turning maneuver while departing from Sir John Rogerson's Quay, located on the south bank of the river. Following the allision, a thorough assessment was conducted to evaluate the extent of the damage. It was determined that the ship required only minor repairs to the port side stern, which had sustained damage above the waterline. Upon completion of these repairs, the 'L.Γ‰. Samuel Beckett' is slated to resume its Maritime Defence Security Operation (MDSO) patrol duties. By March 1, the vessel successfully relocated to Cogh to continue its crucial maritime operations.
