Sanctioned tanker transited Strait of Hormuz
**Title: Sanctioned Tankers Make Noteworthy Transit through Strait of Hormuz** In a significant maritime event, the Strait of Hormuz witnessed the transit of two vessels on March 13, 2026: the 'Skywave' and the 'Wen Yao.' Notably, the 'Wen Yao' marked a historic moment by becoming the first sanctioned ship to navigate the strait while its Automatic Identification System (AIS) remained active. This move contrasts sharply with the common strategies employed by clandestine fleets that typically engage in masking their identities and movements. The decision of the 'Wen Yao' to keep its AIS operational while deep within the Gulf underscores a potential shift in the operational tactics of sanctioned vessels in these strategically crucial waters.
