Express ferry pulled fishing vessel from the rocks
The "Salten" assisted a fishing vessel which had suffered engine failure in the morning of Oct 12, 2015, and had run aground south of Støtt in the Meløy municipality with a crew of two. The MRCC Northern Norway was alerted at 10.05 a.m., and soon after the "Salten" came by and pulled the ship clear from the rocks. It was then turned over to another ship which dragged it into Ornes. Main engine failure in West Fjord
The "Salten" suffered an engine failure in the West Fjord on Mar 26, 2014. One of the engines suddenly failed when the ferry was making its way across the bay from Bodø. The ship limped into the port of Svolvær with the second engine. The stop at Skrova had to be cancelled, and the eight passengers waiting there transported further with a lifeboat which had been called for assistance. The ferry remained Svolvær over night, and also the trip back to Bodø on Mar 27 morning has been canceled.
