«Krasin» icebreaker finishes summer navigation in the eastern sector of the Arctic Region
FESCO KRASIN icebreaker has completed navigation in the eastern sector of the Arctic Region, providing pilotage of the vessels along the Northern Sea Route. This project was carried out at the request of the Federal Maritime and River Transport Agency of the Russian Federation. During this time the icebreaker has provided navigation of 32 vessels which delivered 114,000 tons of general cargo to the ports of the Northern Sea Route and taken out 87 000 tons.
FESCO's icebreaker "Krasin" to assist shipping along the NSR
FESCO (part of FESCO Group) owned icebreaker "Krasin", on July 10 departed the homeport of Vladivostok and is due to set sail for the eastern Arctic region, the shipping company said. The ship will be deployed to provide icebreaking assistance to merchant vessels, carrying general cargo and containers to the ports of destination in northern Chukotka and Yakutia, under the contract with the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmorrechflot). The shipping season starts on July 25, 2014 but under the requests of shipowners the company decided to start the navigation in the Arctic five days earlier. The Krasin will be escorting cargo ships along the Northern Sea Route from July 20 July until the beginning of November, 2014.
FESCO’s icebreaker Krasin to ensure safe shipping on Northern Sea Route (NSR)
The icebreaker Krasin owned by Far East Shipping Company (FESCO, a shipping division of FESCO Group) on July 14 will set sail from the home port of Vladivostok to the east area of the Arctic for escorting merchant ships to / from the ports and terminals in northern Chukotka and Yakutia, the Group press release said. The FESCO’s icebreaker will operate under the contract with the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport.
