Ferry damaged in collision

The "Eldorado" with 403 passengers on board was in collision with an unidentified object in the Japan Sea in the evening of March 31, 2018 at 7.35 p.m. The ferry was en route from Dokdo to Ulleundo island and sailing at 28 knots speed when the accident happened. The hull was breached with ensuing water ingress in the engine room area. The water rose 60 centimeters high, but the inflow was brought under control by the crew with the vessel's own pumps. The ferry managed to reach Ulleungdo at 11.37 p.m. at reduced speed but under own power, escorted by a Korean patrol boat. No injures reported.
