Triple allision in Biak

The 'Sinabung' allided with with the ferries 'Sabuk Nusantara 63' (IMO: 9808754) and 'Sabuk Nusantara 94' (MMSI: 525119085) at the port of Biak in Papua in the evening of April 22, 2022, when being about to dock at the port. First it contacted the anchored 'Sabuk Nusantara 63', and as a result, also hit the 'Sabuk Nusantara 94'. All ships suffered dents.

Ferry hard aground off Tual

The "Singabung" with hundreds of passengers on board ran onto a reef in the evening of Dec 22, 2016, at 6.34 p.m. in the Banda Sea seen miles off Tual port, Dullah Island in Southeast Maluku. Attempts to pull the ship off with tugs were abandoned at 9.15 p.m. The ship was hard aground in the shallow water and had, according to reports, foundered. It had left Ambon port in the morning Dec 22, and was due to arrive at Tual at 5 p.m. The evacuation of the 359 passengers by the patrol boats "KN 34" and "KN 364" onto the "Erana" started at 10 p.m. and was finished on Dec 23 at 2.30 a.m. No casualties were reported. Pelni to modify three passenger ships to survive rough business

As more passengers opt for air transportation, state owned shipping company, PT Pelni plans to modify more ships next year so they can carry passengers and containers to help boost business. President director Jussabella Sahea said the firm would modify three ships: Sinabung, Lawit and Tatamailau in 2013.
