The KM 'Bukit Raya' caught fire at the mouth of the Kapuas River, Jungkat District, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan on April 25, 2024. Smoke could be seen billowing from one of the rooms on the top deck of the ferry. The plan was for the ship to enter the Kapuas River and dock at Pontianak's Dwikora Harbor. The fire has been successfully extinguished. There was no information on the cause of the fire. A joint team of firefighters and Basarnas Pontianak have headed to the ship. On Sep 18 the "Bukit Raya" remained anchored at Tanjung Pinang in pos. 05° 57.62' N 106° 7.63' E following the propeller damage on Sep 8. The shipping company was still uncertain how long it would take for the repairs to complete. In case the repairs cannot be completed in Tanjung Pinang, the vessel will have to be taken to Jakarta.

On Sep 8, 2019, the "Bukit Raya", serving a number of outer islands in the Riau Islands, suffered damage to its propellers after being caught in fishing nets while crossing the Kapuas River, Pontianak, and could not call at Tarempa. Passengers destined for the port were disembarked on open sea while the ship could not be anchored. The ferry was not anchored in Natuna for the same reason. It could not dock at Serasan, Midai, and Letung ports either. To dock at the Port of the Strait of Lampa it had to be pulled by a mooring boat.
