Ferries grounded at Eastern Kalimatan island

The ferries "Kineret" and "Ulin" (IMO: 9080261), servicing the Balikpapan – Penajam route in the Makassar Strait, ran aground in the Kariangau estuary in the afternoon of June 28, 2017, with more than 200 passengers and several dozen vehicles on board. Both ferries were stranded for about five hours, waiting for the high tide. Both ships refloated by own means in about the same time and resumed their sailings.
