Tank barge grounded on the Rhine
On Jan 1, 2014, the "Kelvin" ran aground on a crib on the Rhine near Düsseldorf at river km 759. The ship was unloaded. Attempts of the Crew to get off with own power failed, also another barge, which had gone alongside, did not have success. The Rhine at Wittlaer was temporarily closed for shipping. On the whole six salvage attempts have failed. Another ship was called from Krefeld to support the work.
