On Feb 13, 2024, oil from a discharge at sea drifted ashore in Stenungsund. On Feb 14 only a negligible amount of oil still was left. Limiting measures have been taken by the port. The Swedish Coastguard was on site with environmental protection equipment in readiness and the 'KBV 001 Poseidon'. A surveillance flight was to pass the site in the morning to map the release, which was not possible on Feb 13 due to low cloud bank. On Aug 25, 2015, the "Poseidon" found the bodies of more than 50 migrants in the hold of a vessel off the coast of Libya. During the operation around 430 migrants were saved. The "Poseidon" was already rescuing 130 migrants from a raft north of Libya's coast when it got a call to assist a nearby wooden ship. The Swedes rescued 439 survivors from the wooden boat then looked for the bodies. The crew had to cut up the deck of the wooden boat to get to the bodies) in a safe way.
