Engine failure in Brunsbüttel
Enroute from Rotterdam to Porvoo the "Turchese" suffered an engine failure upon entering the new lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The ship drifted perpendicular to the fairway on Aug 7, 2018, at 11.15 p.m. The tugs "Bugsier 14" and "Luchs" were called to assist. They pulled the tanker through the locks and to the navy pilings in the inner port of Brunsbüttel from where it sailed again at 5.35 p.m. and continued the eastbound transit of the waterway.
