Incident in Kiel Canal
Enroute from Aalborg to France the "Västanvik" suffered trouble during the transit of the Kiel Canal on Dec 7, 2018. She had left the locks in Kiel around midnight. Short time later she veered off course and touched both the north and south embankment of the Kiel Canal just east of the ferry station Sehestedt. The ship was then moored at the pilings. The tugs "Flemhude" and "Kiel" pulled it to the communal port Rendsburg where she berthed on Dec 8 at 7.20 a.m. She left the port again on Dec 12 at 6.30 p.m. and entered North Sea waters at 11.30 p.m., bound to France, ETA Dec 17.
