Ferry sold and to be renamed Capu di Maru
**Title: Former 'Kalliste' Ferry Acquired by Corsica Linea, Set for Renaming as Capu di Maru** Corsica Linea has successfully acquired the ferry 'Kalliste' from La Méridionale, a significant move that will see the vessel, previously facing the threat of being scrapped in Turkey, renamed 'Capu di Maru.' This strategic addition to Corsica Linea’s fleet is set to debut following necessary retrofit and refurbishment work. For over thirty years, the 'Kalliste' was a staple on the Marseille-Corsica route, including ports like Propriano and Ajaccio, and also served on various charters for Corsica Linea. However, since October 2025, the ferry has been docked in Marseille, amid plans for its demolition due to industrial challenges and efforts to streamline the fleet. The acquisition, which Corsica Linea’s social and economic committee recently approved for approximately four million euros, will involve essential maintenance and upgrading at the Chantier Naval de Marseille. This includes a fresh coat of paint in Corsica Linea's iconic red livery, preparing the vessel for its expected service entry in late April. Furthermore, there are discussions within Corsica Linea to charter La Méridionale’s ‘Massalia’ for operations in autumn, enhancing the company’s service offerings. Notably, 'Normandie,' another vessel previously acquired from Brittany Ferries at the end of 2024, adds to the growing fleet. Stay tuned for more updates on the 'Capu di Maru' as it prepares to return to the seas, revitalizing Corsica Linea’s service routes and operations.
