**Title: Technical Glitch Takes Hinnøy Ferry Out of Service Temporarily** **Content:** On May 4, 2026, the Hinnøy ferry, which operates the essential Bognes–Lødingen route, experienced a technical malfunction while navigating through the Vestfjorden. This unexpected issue forced the vessel to cease operations. As a result, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration announced the cancellation of the B route for the following day, May 5, disrupting key sailings: the 09:30 a.m. departure from Lødingen and the 10:45 a.m. departure from Bognes were both affected. However, by 11:28 a.m., the operator Torghatten confirmed that services on the B route had resumed, with the Hinnøy departing from Lødingen at 12:00 p.m. and returning to its regular sailing schedule. The prompt recovery allowed passengers to once again rely on this vital ferry connection.

The Hinnøy, serving on the route Bognes–Lødingen, had to be taken out of service on Oct 18, 2025, until further notice due to technical trouble. The route has been suspended until Oct 20, when the Norwegian Road Traffic Centre announced that it was back in operation as of departure at 09:30 a.m. Reis Nordland reported on OCt 18 that the bus line 100 between Narvik/Sortland and Bodø was delayed by up to an hour due to the cancellation of the 5:15 p.m. departure from Lødingen to Bognes.

On July 15, the operations manager for the Vestfjord department in Torghatten informed that the cause of the problems of the manoevering system 'Hinnøy' has probably been found.
