Tankers allided in Campana

May 05, 2026 12:48

**Headline: Maritime Incident in Campana: 'Ginga Bobcat' Collides with 'Helios'** On the evening of May 4, 2026, at 5:36 PM, a maritime incident unfolded in the port of Campana on the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway when the tanker 'Ginga Bobcat' (IMO: 9472737) collided with the moored vessel 'Helios.' The 'Ginga Bobcat,' traveling upstream from Montevideo, was transporting an impressive 10,300 tons of sulfuric acid bound for the TFA terminal in Greater Rosario. At the time of the allision, the 'Ginga Bobcat' was moving at approximately 8.6 knots when it struck the starboard stern of the 'Helios,' which was busy loading gasoline and diesel at the dock. The collision caused significant breaches to the port side bow of the 'Ginga Bobcat,' which subsequently dropped anchor at coordinates S 34° 09' N 058° 58' W after the impact. The stern of the 'Helios' also sustained considerable damage above the waterline. In response to the incident, the Argentine Naval Prefecture swiftly activated emergency safety protocols. Authorities immediately began a thorough assessment of the structural integrity of both vessels to determine the extent of the damage and ensure there were no leaks posing an environmental threat. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or serious injuries linked to the collision. The Coast Guard has established a vigilant presence in the area to monitor the situation closely and mitigate any potential environmental risks in the river.
