In a significant development, India has successfully facilitated the release of over 150 seafarers previously trapped at Ras Isa Port in Yemen. The situation, which escalated after an airstrike on April 17, damaged vital port infrastructure and prompted the Iranian-backed Houthis to impose a blockade, has now seen resolution. As of June 29, 2025, all 11 vessels that were held at the port have been permitted to leave, with the last ship, the 'Gaz Gms', completing its cargo discharge operations and setting sail for Sohar. Notably, some vessels experienced delays since December 2024 due to local authorities withholding departure clearance until all cargo had been processed.
