Approximately 500 traders in Jordan are facing tremendous financial setbacks due to a devastating fire that erupted aboard the container ship 'ASL Bauhinia' on January 31. In response to this significant loss, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce has engaged the law firm BLK to navigate the legal proceedings. After assessing various legal firms, BLK was selected to partner with global maritime law experts. Additionally, the Chamber has established a dedicated joint committee comprising affected traders to oversee every aspect of the ongoing case and ensure that a comprehensive legal strategy is developed to facilitate the recovery of losses incurred by traders.

The 'ASL Bauhinia,' operated by Asean Seas Lines, was en route from Jebel Ali with a planned destination of Aqaba, aiming for the Suez Canal when the incident occurred. Authorities have ruled out the possibility of Houthi rebel attacks from Yemen being a factor in this fire. Following the recently declared ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the group has announced a cessation of attacks on maritime targets in the Red Sea region until further notice.
