**Title: CSL Thames Detained in Sløvåg Over Safety Concerns** In a recent maritime incident, the bulk carrier "CSL Thames" faced detention on February 16, 2026, at the Sløvåg (Halsvik) Quarry due to a total of 17 identified deficiencies. Notably, two of these deficiencies were classified as serious, leading to the vessel's detention. The issues raised included critical concerns regarding the structural condition of electrical installations, which did not meet the requisite standards, and inadequate launching arrangements for the vessel's life-saving appliances. After resolving the deficiencies, the "CSL Thames" was granted release on February 24, allowing it to depart the port. The vessel subsequently set course for Emden, where it successfully arrived on February 27. Generator fire in Emden

On the late evening of Jan 19, 2026, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'CSL Thames', which was berthed at the South Quay in the port of Emden. The Larrelt Volunteer Fire Department responded with a large contingent. Upon arrival, they discovered that the fire had started in a generator, but it had already been extinguished by the ship's own fire extinguishers. A team of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus boarded the ship to inspect the vessel; no further firefighting was necessary. In the meantime, the volunteer fire brigade Emden-Borssum deployed a reserve team equipped with breathing apparatus and established hygiene protocols at the scene. The whole operation was concluded after nearly an hour.Involved were the professional fire brigade Emden, the ship fire unit, the local fire brigades of Borssum, Widdelswehr/Petkum and Uphusen/Marienwehr, the breathing apparatus emergency group, the communications group with the command vehicle and the rescue service. The ship, had arrived from the Mibau Stema quarry in Jelsa on Jan 19 at around 12.30 p.m. The Emden Water Police has launched an investigation into the accident. According to initial findings, a technical defect was suspected to have caused the fire. The maritime safety authority has issued a prohibition on further sailing pending confirmation by the relevant classification society. Allision in Emden

On Jan 4, 2019, at 7.10 p.m. the "OC Aggnes" allided with the South Quay of Emden upon its departure from the port to Jelsa. The ship suffered a breach in the hull about 2,5 meters above the waterline. It was detained until completion of repairs and a class inspection. The bulkcarrier left Emden after the breach in the hull was fixed, on Jan 10 at noon. It resumed the voyage to Jelsa with an ETA as of Jan 12, 7 a.m.
