On Jan 5, 2017, the "COSCO Shipping Kilimanjaro", being inbound for Chiwan/Shekou, ran aground between the Ma Wan Bridge and Hong Kong Airport due to a steering gear failure. Tugs assisted the ship, and it docked in Shekou at 8.10 p.m. On Jan 6 at 3 p.m. it sailed on to Hong Kong, arriving there on Jan 7 around 2 a.m., and leaving again at 3.20 p.m. bound to Singapore.
