On April 1, 2026, authorities in Sarande conducted a thorough inspection of the ferry 'Corfu Express', identifying minor deficiencies during the evaluation. Thankfully, the Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inspections confirmed that there were no detainable shortcomings, leading to the vessel being granted clearance by local authorities. Having arrived from Durres, the ferry has remained docked in port since April 2, ensuring compliance with safety protocols while any issues are addressed.

On June 27, 2025, the Corfu Port Authority received reports of an electrical failure onboard the passenger ferry 'Corfu Express'. The incident occurred while the vessel was making its way from Saranda, Albania to the newly established port of Corfu, carrying 69 passengers and a crew of six. Fortunately, the ship was able to navigate safely to the port where all passengers were disembarked without incident. In light of the power loss, the Corfu Central Port Authority has prohibited the 'Corfu Express' from departing until it can provide a valid maintenance certificate from its overseeing classification society.
