Master found dead in his cabin
The Russian Master of the "Canopus", Captain Valery Cerkezov, was found dead in his cabin on Jan 4, 2019, at 7.15 p.m. while the ship was transiting the Dardanelles in western directio en route from Taganrog to Iskenderun. The ship interrupted its transit and anchored at Erenkoy on Jan 7 at 5 a.m. to carry out all requested procedures and formalities as well as ab investigation into the cause of the death.

On Nov 21, 2010, at 1.07 a.m. the "Canopus" coming from Istanbul allided with the berthed icebreaker "Kapitan Krutov" while proceeding to Berth 3 of Yeisk port in the Azov sea. The freighter remained undamaged, but the icebreaker got dented searchlight platform and its bulwark and searchlight torn off. odin.tc
