On March 4, 2019, a 56-year-old crew member aboard the vessel 'Burgos' sustained an injury to his left hand, prompting a swift response from the Mexican Navy. The Third Naval Region, based in Lerma, Campeche, received an urgent request for assistance from Petróleos Mexicanos, indicating the need for medical evacuation for the wounded individual. A Defender-class vessel swiftly navigated to the coordinates 20 nautical miles northwest of Lerma, where the 'Burgos' was anchored, to facilitate the rescue operation. Following the successful evacuation, the injured crew member was transported to the Lerma Integral Port Administration's dock. There, he was handed over to personnel from Petróleos Mexicanos for further transfer to a medical facility in San Francisco de Campeche for essential medical care.

On October 5th, the 'Burgos' made its grand return to the port of Pajaritos in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, after undergoing a significant 10-month refurbishment at Desan Shipyards in Istanbul. This upgraded tanker boasts cutting-edge technology designed for the safe transport of hydrocarbons. Now back in action, the 'Burgos' has rejoined PEMEX's distribution network for refined hydrocarbons across the Gulf of Mexico, adhering meticulously to all international safety and environmental regulations. The 'Burgos' has successfully undergone permanent repairs in Tuzla, with the work finalized on August 10, 2018. The next step involves obtaining final approval from the class surveyor in conjunction with the owner’s representative. Following this, the tanker departed the Istanbul area on September 9 at 11 p.m., embarking on a journey to Lerma, Mexico, with an estimated time of arrival set for October 3.
