Wittenbergen refloated and anchored

Aug 07, 2015 09:51

The "Wittenbergen" was refloated in the evening of Aug 6 with the help of the tugs "Alexander 3" (IMO: 8903181), which had sent down divers to inspect the hull before, and "Appolon" (IMO: 7431806) and anchored off Aviemonas on Kithira island. The ship which had a crew of eight on board and was carrying 3,000 metric tons of steel plates had suffered slight water ingress in the forepeak, but there was no immediate danger. On Aug 7 the vessel was still at anchor in the same position with both tugs remaining on standby.
