Fine imposed for breach of MARPOL rules
During the stay of the 'Biskra' in Tutunciftlik, a pollution fine was imposed by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department, on Feb 14, 2020, due to a breach of local regulations under MARPOL rules. An investigation file was opened by the local authority and the vessel was found guilty of dirty oil discharge. A fine of 105,500 USD was imposed, which was paid by the vessel's local agent on behalf of its owners. Upon completion of payment and receipt formalities, the Harbour Master granted departure permission for the vessel. It left the port in the evening of Feb 16 enroute to Port Harcourt with an ETA as of March 11.
Tanker attacked off Nigeria
The "Biskra" was approached and attacked by pirates in a speedboat in position 04 09N, 006 56E, on March 16, 2018, at 11.40 a.m. The tanker immediately commenced evasive manoeuvres and employed anti-piracy measures. The embarked security team on the ship opened fire on the pirate speedboat, and as a result the pirates broke off the pursuit and left the area. Later, the vessel continued its planned passage to Bonny.
