This latest incident revealed a concerning number of deficiencies, totaling 28, with nine of these categorized as serious grounds for detention. The critical issues identified included: 1. **Life-Saving Appliances**: Expired inflatable liferafts. 2. **Life-Saving Appliances**: Poor maintenance of rescue boats. 3. **Life-Saving Appliances**: Inadequate lifeboat inventory. 4. **Pollution Prevention**: A malfunctioning Ballast Water Management System. 5. **Emergency System**: Inoperable emergency lighting, batteries, and switches. 6. **Fire Safety**: Non-compliant remote means of control in the machinery space. 7. **Fire Safety**: Neglected fire detection and alarm systems. 8. **Safety of Navigation**: Insufficient standards for the voyage data recorder. 9. **Safety of Navigation**: An inoperative Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS). On April 9, 2025, the 'Ayana Sea' was detained in Kocaeli with 18 deficiencies, five of which being regarded as seriously and grounds for a detention: 1) Certificate & Doc - Certificate for Master and officers Not as required 2) Living and working - Cleanliness of engine room Insufficient 3) Water/Weathertight - Doors Not properly maintained 4) Propulsion and auxiliary machinery - Auxiliary machinery Not as required 5) Propulsion and auxiliary machinery - Propulsion main engine Not as required The vessel was released again on April 11 and left the port en route to Sulina, where it arrived on April 15. Engine failure off Istanbul Strait

The "Madlin H.", en route from Constanta to Diliskelesi,, suffered an engine failure in the northern entrance of the Istanbul Strait on Dec 25, 2018. The coastal safety tug "Mehmetcik" attended in order to provide assistance. Subsequently, the vessel moved to the Turkeli anchorage and dropped anchor at 2 p.m. under supervision of the tug. Repairs were still being carried out by the crew. On Dec 27 at 4.15 p.m. the vessel moored on Kilyos anchorage in pos. 41Β° 16.68' N 029Β° 0.24' E. As the repairs could not be carried out by the crew, the anchor handling tug "Ocean Ergun" was appointed to tow the vessel from the incident scene to a discharge port. Upon completion of formalities, towage operation commenced on Jan 1, 2019, at 5 a.m. The "Madlin H" arrived in Diliskelesi at 2.30 p.m. in order to carry out cargo discharge operations. Upon completion of discharge operation in the coming days, the vessel shifted from Diliskelesi to a shipyard in Tuzla for permanent repairs on Jan 5. She sailed from Tuzla again on March 9 at 10.30 a.m. and moored off the port in pos. 40Β° 50.34' N 029Β° 13.99' E.
