Cargo Ship 'Arda' Faces Mechanical Breakdown Near Umuryeri
On the morning of September 30, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Arda', which was navigating from Bandırma to the Russian port of Tuapse, encountered a mechanical failure off the coast of Umuryeri. In response to the emergency, the tugs 'Kurtarma 4' (IMO: 9335941) and 'Kurtarma 6' (IMO: 9463176), along with a strait pilot, were urgently dispatched to provide assistance and successfully took the stricken ship in tow. The 'Arda' was then safely moored at Büyükdere anchorage. This coordinated rescue operation was facilitated by the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center. As a result of this incident, the Bosphorus experienced a temporary blockage in maritime traffic. Fortunately, both northbound and southbound navigation was resumed shortly after the tugs secured the vessel.
