**Title: Emergency Medivac Alters AIDAbella's Itinerary in Santa Cruz de Tenerife** In a remarkable display of professionalism and care, the cruise ship 'AIDAbella' faced a last-minute schedule change during its voyage when it made an unscheduled return to Santa Cruz de Tenerife on April 8, 2026. The vessel arrived at the port of Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, on April 9, nearly an hour behind its original timeline, following an urgent medical situation that required immediate attention. The incident unfolded just after the ship's scheduled departure at 10:00 p.m. on April 8. Captain Class Cramer made the decision to navigate back to Tenerife at approximately 11:15 p.m., utilizing the ship’s intercom system to inform passengers of the situation. This choice was made with the patient's health as the utmost priority, ensuring that an ambulance would be ready to transport the individual from the ship to a local hospital swiftly. After successfully conducting the medical transfer, the 'AIDAbella' resumed its course toward Fuerteventura, increasing its speed during the night to compensate for the delay. Despite these efforts, the ship did not arrive at Puerto del Rosario by its initial docking time of 9:00 a.m. However, the crew's swift response to the medical emergency showcased their commitment to passenger safety. Later that evening, 'AIDAbella' departed Fuerteventura, continuing its final cruise around the Canary Islands with a scenic journey to Lanzarote, before making its way back to Gran Canaria. Following the upcoming passenger changeover in Las Palmas, the ship will welcome onboard only those traveling on the Western Europe cruise bound for Kiel. This incident serves as a testament to the cruise line’s dedication to passenger welfare, ensuring that health emergencies are addressed promptly and efficiently during maritime journeys.
