Tanker suffered blackout in Sunda Strait
On Dec 21, 2024, at 10.35 a.m. LT, the 'Daya Armada 02', sailing from Sambu to Merak, Banten, suffered an engine failure and was NUC in the northern waters of the Sunda Strait, short time after the master reported technical issues to the Merak VTS, which broadcast a Notice to Mariners (NTM) to all vessels in the area at 10:40 a.m. and again at 11:19a.m. At 11:23 a.m. the KN 'Alugara P.114' was en route to the tanker to provide assistance. At 11:43a.m. the 'Daya Armada 02' informed the Merak VTS that repairs had been successfully completed. The vessel proceeded at slow speed, using one engine, toward the anchorage area at Tanjung Sekong.
