The 'Danum 171', which had suffered engine damage and drifted in vicinity 04 44 31 N, 118 56 2 8E on Feb 18, was taken in tow towards Lahad Datu for repairs. The ship sailed from the port on Feb 21 at 04.10 a.m. UTC, headed to Kota Kinabalu and Miri with an ETA as of March 1.
Container ship adrift off Pulau Pom Pom
The 'Danum 171' suffered a damage to the main engine, lost its manoeverability and went adrift in the waters of Pulau Pom Pom, Semporna, Sabah in the morning of Feb 18, 2022, at 9.45 a.m. The ship was en route from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau with an ETA as of Feb 19. At about 4 p.m. a tug boat arrived to pull the ship out towards Lahad Datu for repairs with the MMEA tagging along to keep close watch. All 17 crew members on board were safe.
