Danica-Sunrise

The 'Danica Sunrise', enroute from Frederikshavn, allided with a mooring dolphin in the entrance of the Emden sea lock on the morning of Feb 7, 2026, in foggy conditions. The ship was scheduled to be loaded in the port of Emden. It was being piloted by a 38-year-old captain and a harbour pilot, with assistance from of an Emden based port tug. The ship's bulwarks were damaged in the accident. The extent of the damage was not yet known. was is also unclear whether the dolphin was damaged in the allision. The vessel was banned from sailing, and the water police started investigating the incident. The 'Danica Sunrise' left the port of Emden again on Feb 11, next headed to Calais, where it arrived on Feb 12 and sailed again on Feb 20, en route to Nouadhibou with an ETA as of March 3.

The crew of MV Danica Sunrise, who were being questioned off the Mumbai coast for allegedly dumping AK 47 assault rifles, pistols and a satellite phone into the sea last week before being intercepted by security agencies, have been allowed to leave after interrogators were satisfied that they had no intention of landing arms and ammunition in Maharashtra.
