Drunk master replaced in Belfast

The 58-year old Russian Master of the 'Danica Hav' was found intoxicated during a shift of berths in Belast on Jan 14, 2020. The pilot had to intervene twice to prevent an allision with the quay. The pilot reported the incident to the relevant authorities, and the police boarded the vessel and detained its master after they found excess alcohol during a breathalyzer test. He appeared at the Belfast Magistrates Court on Jan 15 and was found guilty. The man admitted his guilt and was ready to pay a fine. He was fined with 500 pounds, paid the fine and left, returning to the ship. The vessel leaft Belfast on Jan 15 at 6.15 p.m. bound to Lochaline with an ETA as of Jan 16 under the command of a relief Captain. The replaced one remained on board as a passenger. Already on Feb 17, 2012, a master of the ship had to be taken in custody for drinking at the helm.

Grounding off Goole

The "Danica Hav" ran aground in the morning of Feb 11, 2018, on the river Ouse at the Ocean Lock, while approaching the port of Goole. The Goole based tug "Little Shuva" was called to assist in refloating. The vessel was pulled off in the afternoon and reached Goole. In the early morning of Feb 12 she left Goole, next bound for Rotterdam, ETA Feb 13. Drunken captain sentenced to 30 days in jail

The Russian captain who was at the helm of the "Danica Hav" when she ran aground on Feb 18, has been sentened to 30 day in jail by Court of Holbæk. Besides he was disqualified to guide a ship or work in an engine for one year, and he was expelled from Denmark with a travel ban for six years. The blood sample which was taken after the accident had showed he had a BAC of 2.18. The captain was in custody for 25 days, and after the judgment he was put on a plane to Russia.
