Medevac in Cold Bay

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Cold Bay medevaced an ailing crew member of the "Alaska Mariner" from King Cove to Cold Bay on Mar 31, 2014. Coast Guard 17th District command center watchstanders received the report of the injured mariner, aboard the vessel in the early morning. The vessel was 125 miles southeast of Cold Bay and began transiting to King Cove. Once the vessel arrived in King Cove, the fishing vessel crew used a small boat to carry the injured man to the waiting Jayhawk crew on shore, who transported him to commercial services in Cold Bay.The Jayhawk crew safely transported the 58-year-old man, who was suffering from an eye injury, to waiting commercial medevac services in Cold Bay.
