Cygnus safely back in port
The "Cygnus" arrived back in St. John’s in the morning of Feb 10 and was now secured safely to the dock. The ship had been taking on water more than 260 nautical miles east of Newfoundland, but used its pumps to get the situation under control. There were no injuries reported and the 21 crew members were safe after the incident.
Fishing support ship returns to port after leak
The "Cygnus" (IMO: 4316017)suffered water ingress in the morning of Feb 8, 2018, in the North Atlantic, about 260 miles east of St John’s, while being on patrol mission. The water leaked through the propeller shaft, and it was decided to return to port. The water ingress was brought under control and the ship was dewatered. The offshore supply ship "Atlantic Kingfisher" met the vessel to escort it back to St. John's. The Coast Guard ship "Sir Wilfred Grenfell" was also called to assist with the vessels and accompany the Cygnus back to port. The 21 crew members were safe and the situation stable. The ship was due to arrive at St. John’s on Feb 9. At 2 a.m. she was 120 miles east of the port.
