Cycladic-Spire

On Feb 22, 2025, at 3.10 a.m. the 'Cycladic Spire' was boarded by the perpetrators, armed with Knives and gun-like objects, at the Balikpapan Anchorage in pos. 1° 2.75' N 103° 39.23' E, about 3.5 nautical miles west of Pulau Cula in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) of the Singapore Strait. The intruders stole engine spares and escaped. No crew members were injured.

19 crew members of the 'Global Striker' which entered the San Francisco Bay en route from West Sacramento on Aug 30, 2021, were medevaced after experiencing flu-like symptoms in what was later confirmed by the UCSF as a coronavirus outbreak. A boat of the San Francisco Fire Department shuttled them to Pier 26 under the Bay Bridge for treatment. Three have been brought to the Parnassus hospital. Six were taken off the ship after having been tested positive for Covid-19 on Aug 29. The fire department used universal coronavirus precautions with everyone they brought from the ship to the shore. The ship remained moored in pos. 37° 45.03' N 122° 19.86' W as of Aug 31.
