Crew of seven stranded in Bremerhaven
The "Silves" which was docked in Bremerhaven since its arrival from Flushing on Aug 28, 2012, has now been detained at the Schifffahrts- and Speditionsgesellschaft Meyer in the Kaiser Port as the owners are bankrupt. The fate of the crew of seven is yet unclear. The men, three from Russia and four from the Cape Verdes, have no permission to stay in Germany. and may only move within the city limits. They have not been paid since August which is an amount of 60000 Euro to date. Captain Tolpegin himself has no contact with the owners of his ship which do not resond on calls and mails. The seaman's mission and the Bremer Lloyd equipped the stranded sailors with the things most needed. The ITF has now been involved and will try to get the stranded sailors paid. A solution may be found already within the 45th week. For this purpose the Naveiros Transportes Maritims S.A. is to sell one of its vessels. Since the port fees also have not been paid since August the ship has now been confiscated by the local authorities.
