Crystal-Sunrise

The "Crystal Sunrise" was in collision with the "Astro Saturn" off the Singapore on Apr 16, 2018, at 2.30 a.m. The "Crystal Sunrise" was chartered by Japanese liquefied petroleum gas company Gyxis, the "Astro Saturn" was chartered by European trading house Trafigura and was carrying fuel oil. The accident resultied in a release of 1.796 tonnes of liquefied butane gas. The "Crystal Sunrise" was picking up her pilot at a designated pilot station about one mile south of Tuas Extension when she collided with the "Astro Saturn". The LPG tanker suffered damage to a ballast tank and a leak from a gas cargo tank. The bow and port side anchor were damaged. Both ships have since been stabilized, and the "Crystal Sunrise"'s crew managed to contain the gas leak. The MPA assessed that the butane dissipated quickly, and prevailing winds carried it away from Singapore's shores. No injuries were reported on either vessel, but eight PSA Marine staff who were present at the time of the collision received check-ups as a precautionary measure. They have since been discharged. The tankers dropped anchor at Kupuk anchorage. As a precautionary measure, eight PSA Marine staff who were in the vicinity of the collision received medical check-ups at the National University Hospital. All of the crew have since been discharged. The "Crystal Sunrise" has no history of inspection deficiencies. The "Astro Saturn" had her last inspection at Vostochny, where inspectors found deficiencies related to documentation.
