The Jamaican police in Kingston was investigating the death of a Ukrainian national aboard the 'Crystal A', which had docked at the Kingston port on Jan 8, 2024. The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Manzhos Yuriy. At around 11:45 am, checks were made to Yuriy’s living quarters by a crew member. He was found shirtless, donned in black and grey shorts, lying motionless on his back across his bed, with foaming at both corners of his mouth. Lawmen boarded the vessel. No visible signs of violence were evident, however, several blood spots on the lower posterior area of Yuriy’s body, were consistent with lividity. Yuriy, the ship’s chief engineer, hailed from the town of Nikolacv in southern Ukraine. The ship left the port again on Jan 10.
