Costa-Fascinosa

A medical evacuation was requested by the 'Costa Fascinosa', enroute from Malaga to Funchal, on the afternoon of Nov 24 about 2.5 nautical miles southwest of Punta Europa. The SAR boat 'Salvamar Atria' was mobilized to take the 82-year-old Danish passenger off. He was transferred to the Saladillo dock, where an ambulance picked him up for further transport to the Punta Europa Hospital. The operation was coordinated by the Tarifa Maritime Rescue Center (CCS) and the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras.

On March 31, 2025, the 'COSTA FASCINOSA', en route from St. Johns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, requested the medical evacuation of a 79-year-old Swiss passenger 75 nautical miles southwest of El Hierro. The CCS Tenerife of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 222, 201, which hoisted the patient and transferred him tothe Tenerife South Airport for further transfer to the hospital.

The 'Costa Fascinosa' assisted the yacht 'Elefance' with a fuel transfer on Dec 14, 2024, as both vessels were in the midst of their transatlantic crossings. After a distress call was issued at approximately 5 p.m., the 'Costa Fascinosa' immediately turned to the south-southeast to reach the Canadian-registered yacht 'Elefance', en route from Lanzarote to St. Martin, which had experienced a major mechanical failure, that compromised her ability to sail. Without enough fuel to use the engines for the entire trip across the Atlantic Ocean, the yacht was adrift and facing a potentially hazardous and life-threatening situation. It took three hours for the cruise ship to reach the yacht, at which time a lifeboat was quickly dispatched to render aid. The sailing vessel was successfully refueled and able to resume the journey. The 'Costa Fascinosa' was quickly able to resume the own cruise and there was no expected delay on the voyage from Savona to Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe with an ETA as of Dec 19. On the morning of Dec 12, 2024, a passenger needed to be medevaced from the 'Costa Fascinosa', en route from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Bridgetown. The SAR boat 'Salvamar Tenerife' was mobilized for this purpose by the Tenerife Coordination Center of Salvamento Marítimo. The ships rendezvoused 2.6 miles south of the mouth of the Los Llanos Dock in the port.
