Medevac off AlmerÃa
The SAR boat 'Salvamar Spica' arrived on the morning of Nov 28, 2025, at the port of AlmerÃa with a passenger on board, who had been medevaced from the 'Costa Deliziosa', en route from Barcelona to Casablanca. Medical services were awaiting his arrival at the port. The response was coordinated by the local CCS of Salvamento MarÃtimo.
Medevac off Vieste
A 50-year-old woman of English nationality was medevaced in the morning of Aug 21, 2023, from the 'Costa Deliziosa' 35 miles north of the port of Vieste. The Coast Guard of Gargano was requested to assist and sent the patrol boat 'CP 880' patrol boat to the cruise ship. The 'International Radio Medical Center' (C.I.R.M.), arranged the transfer to the port of Vieste, where she was transferred to the local emergency room.
Cruises suspended due to travel restrictions
Costa Cruises is suspending the cruises of the 'Costa Deliziosa' in Greece due to new travel restrictions in place in the country. The ship ended its last cruise on Nov 7 in Trieste. It will then cease operations for seven weeks, canceling cruises on November 7, 14, 21 and 28, and December 5, 12 and 19. Costa Cruises has contacted customers who have made a reservation on one of the impacted trips of the 'Costa Deliziosa'. The 'Costa Smeralda', the second Costa ship currently in service, will continue its cruises in Italy as planned, respecting the improved protocols introduced by the company.
First cruise started in Trieste
On Sep 6 the 'Costa Deliziosa' resumed cruising from Trieste as the first cruise ship of the Carnival Corporation to do so. The ship has on board only Italien passengers and will stop only in Italy. The ship will call at Bari, Brindisi, Corigliano-Rossano, Siracusa and Catania with excursions to Lecce, Ostuni, Otranto, Alberobello, Gallipoli, Taormina, Noto, Modica, Ragusa and Sibari. It is the first of three such cruises.
