Naming ceremony held for LNG-powered vessels

Nov 14, 2014 16:51

Anthony Veder has announced that a naming ceremony has been held for two LNG-powered sea vessels, which will carry liquid ethylene gas (LEG) from SABIC’s Wilton facility on Teesside, UK, to manufacturing plants in North-West Europe and Scandinavia. The LNG-powered ships will drastically reduce Nox and Sox emissions compared to the vessels they are replacing. “We are delighted to welcome the Coral Star and Coral Sticho into Teesport. The arrival of these industry leading LNG-fuelled vessels on Teesside demonstrates a significant commitment by SABIC to the industry and ultimately the River Tees”, said Jerry Hopkinson, Managing Director at ports operator PD Ports. The ethylene carrier CORAL STAR (4700 cbm) owned by Anthony Veder called the port of Zeebrugge on 12/09/2014 for LNG fuel gas trails at Euroservices Terminal. The vessel was delivered by Avic-Dingheng Shipbuilding yard in Jiangsu province, China, and is Anthony Veder Group’s first ship with LNG tanks for cargo-independent dual fuel operation. The vessel will transport ethylene from a Sabic cracker at Teeside in the UK to destinations in Northern Europe.
