Coral-Furcata

While transiting between the port of Rafnes, where it had sailed on Oct 21, 2025, and Gibraltar, carrying a cargo of 4,000 tons of liquefied gas the 'Coral Furcata' suffered a propulsion failure. The LNG carrier was taken under tow on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 9:50 p.m., by the tug 'VB Abeille Bretagne' (IMO: 9308687), which had been deployed from the port of Brest, while it was 40 nautical miles northwest of the Île Vierge lighthouse. The convoy headed for Douarnenez Bay, where it arrived on Oct 25 at 6 p.m. UTC. The 'Coral Furcata' anchored for repairs in pos. 48° 11' N 004° 28' W and remained stationary as of Oct 26.

The US Coast Guard medevaced a crew member from the 'Coral Furcata' approximately 11 miles off Galveston, Texas, on July 21, 2021. Coast Guard Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a call at approximately 9 a.m. from the tanker, stating a 48-year-old male crew member was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. They consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Station Galveston 45-foot Response Boat–Medium crew launched with emergency medical services personnel aboard to assist. The boat arrived on scene but was unable to conduct a transfer because the ailing crew member was no longer ambulatory. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew diverted to assist. The helicopter arrived on scene, hoisted the patient and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in stable condition.
