Two tons of cocaine seized aboard container ship
Two tons of cocaine were intercepted en route to Algeciras on the 'CMA CGM Voltaire', which had been under surveillance since its departure from Cartagena de Indias bound for the port of Algeciras with an ETA as of Feb 3, 2026, in the Caribbean, by the Colombian authorities, as confirmed on Jan 27 by the Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez Suárez. The container ship was intercepted 60 nautical miles north of Santa Marta, where security forces inspected it. During the operation, the agents found 81 packages and four loose bricks, which were immediately turned over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the National Police. In total, 2,066 packages of cocaine were located, with a combined weight of two tons. The operation was carried out by the Colombian Navy, with support from the Colombian Aerospace Force's (FAC) Combat Air Command. No arrests have been reported in connection with the seizure. 415 kilogram cocaine seized in Algeciras
A joint operation of the National Police, the Civil Guard and the Customs Surveillance Service led to the seizure of 415 kilos of cocaine in the port of Algeciras aboard the 'CMA CGM Voltaire' on July 5, 2022. The an operation was under summary secrecy. Sources close to the case have indicated that 415 kilos of cocaine have been seized on board the ship which was docked at the TTIA container terminal at the time of the intervention, having arrived from Cartagena at 3 p.m.
Double medevac in Madeira
The 'Rhodos' had to interrupt the voyage from Cartagena to Algeciras on June 7, 2021, in the North Atlantic, and headed to Madeira to medevac two crew members of Russian and Sri Lankan nationalities with respiratory issues. The ship approached Funchal, where they were disembarked and transferred to hospital. The ship resumed the voyage on June 8. Prior to this voyage, the ship called several ports in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including Houston from May 18-19, where the crew's vaccination campaign was in full swing. The 'Rhodos' was due to arrived in Algeciras on June 9.
