The US Coast Guard medevaced an injured crewman from the 'CMA CGM Samson' in the Houston Ship Channel near Galveston, Texas, on Jan 13, 2023. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a notification at 1 p.m. from the Houston Pilots aboard the container ship, stating a 34-year-old crew member had fallen and sustained a severe lower leg injury. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to conduct the medevac. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The patient was reportedly in stable condition.

Ships were beginning to divert from Ningbo to Shanghai, following the decision to close the Ningbo Meishan Island International Container Terminal (MSICT) due to Covid-19 on Aug 11, 2021. All operations at the terminal were suspended at 3 a.m. on Aug 12, with the gate-in of export containers limited to two days of a vessel’s ETA. CMA CGM said cargo operations on its vessels 'CMA CGM Samson', on its PEX3 service, and 'CMA CGM Rivoli', on FAL1, which were alongside, were temporarily on hold until the terminal re-opened. The 'CMA CGM Melisande', serving PEX3, would now call at Shanghai on Au 18 or 19, and then go to Ningbo, arriving Aug 20 or 21. The FAL3 service’s Kerguelen would follow the same pattern, but two days earlier. The 'CMA CGM Centaurus', on Columbus PNW, 'Cosco Venice' (GMXP) and 'Kota Carum' (REX2) will omit Ningbo altogether. Hapag-Lloyd warned customers of an expected delay in planned sailings, while Cosco also said some ships would omit Ningbo this week.

The "CMA CGM Samson" ran aground in Cape Town upon the arrival from Port Réunion on Apr 3, 2018, at 11.30 a.m. at low tide. Three tugs of the Transnet National Ports Authority were deployed to assist in collaboration with the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) after the bow struck the South Breakwater while approaching the Cape Town Container Terminal. At 3 p.m. they succeeded, and the ship was docked at berth 604 and inspected for damages. Shipping movements in and out of Duncan Dock and Cape Town Container Terminal resumed at 7 p.m. The "CMA CGM Samson" was carrying 1.000 containers and was en route from Singapore. Approximately 23 crew members were on board. The ship's next destination was Pointe Noire in the Congo.
