Allision in Bremerhaven
On the morning of April 21, 2026,. the 'CMA CGM Monza', enroute from Zeebrugge, allided with the pier at the narrow passage of the former swing bridge in the Bremerhaven connecting port. Due to the gusty weather conditions, the 56-year-old captain had requested an additional harbour tug to secure the passage. Despite the assistance of the „VB Evolution“ (IMO: 9691357), „VB Emotion“ (IMO: 9691369), and „VB Innovation” (IMO: 9190626), the starboard side of the ship struck the pier edge. The hull was torn open approximately 2.5 meters above the waterline over a length of six meters. No one was injured, and no pollution was observed. Proceedings for a regulatory offense have been initiated against the captain. The ship has been banned from sailing until the damage has been repaired.
