Ship detained for unauthorized anchoring
The 'Bangsakao' was detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency MMEA in the evening of Dec 24, 2019, for unauthorized anchoring 4.5 miles North of Bahang Bay off Penang island. The MMEA was alerted by locals and the ship taken to Penang and berthed at Butterworth. It was to be released after paying a fine of USD 24,000.
