Fire in crew quarters
The Spanish Navy and Salvamento Marítimo assisted the "CMA CGM Fidelio" about 15 miles from the port of Sant Miquel in Eivissa after a fire broke out in the crew quarters on March 24, 2017, at 4.20 a.m.. The "Malta Mata" has been mobilized as well as the "Martín Posadillo" of the Navy and the "Sicilia" of the Baleària company. A rescue helicopter was alerted in Palma in case it was necessary for transfers. The container ship ship had sailed from Valencia on March 23 at 10.30 p.m. and was bound to Marsaxlokk. The crew managed to put out the fire after an hour, and the vessel since has continued its journey. The "Malta Mata" was monitoring the ship on its way.
