CMA CGM C COLOMB 9453559
Two young officers of the French container ship CMA CGM C. Columbe died, April 15, while the vessel was in port of Yantian, China. The victims, a bridge officer and a student together with a Filipino sailor were in the lifeboat, when it fell into the sea. "It seems that part of the mechanism for launching davits caved when the boat was back on board, leading to his fall in the water with three sailors, " says one at CMA CGM . Immediately, the crew tried to rescue them. The captain and first mate were, in particular, plunged into the harbor for their help. Unfortunately, the two French officers have not survived the fall, the Filipino seafarer itself being seriously injured.
