Injured Filipino sailor evacuated to hospital off Malta
A Filipino sailor who broke a leg on board the merchant vessel MV CMA CGM Cassiopeia and needed medical assistance was medically evacuated to hospital on Monday afternoon. The Armed Forces of Malta said an aerial medical evacuation was not possible because of the prevailing bad weather and the vessel was instructed to approach closer to Marsaxlokk harbour. An AFM Maritime Squadron rescue-launch of the Melita-class was then sent out to bring back the injured sailor, who was safely landed and transferred by ambulance for treatment at Mater Dei Hospital. http://www.independent.com.mt/news.asp?newsitemid=142607
